Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was finding a keyboard within her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to pursue music solely for pleasure or to aid in growth but rather, she should pursue it. In the end, she began to write songs of her own. Her inspirations include famous authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, as well as her affinity with Bjork's style. Her mom encouraged her to play her songs in public, not to be famous, but to let others know that they matter and the good they do for the world. She started playing piano at age six and writing music at age nine. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family members until she was fourteen. Aurora's fame was not the goal of her. She just loves to write songs. She says that music is her favorite way of feeling anything.
