Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding an instrument in her attic and being awed by the sounds it would create. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. The Aksnes family encouraged her to not to do music just for pleasure or as a means of growth but rather, she was encouraged to take it seriously. In order to do so she started writing her own new compositions. Alongside Bjork She also cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother had told her the songs she wrote were not meant to be famous for her, however, but to encourage people to see the value of themselves and their impact on our world at large, she started singing them in public. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six. She began making music at the age of nine. It wasn't until her 14th birthday when she shared her story with her parents. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. Aurora says she loves to compose songs. She believes that music can help any person feel better.
